Dean Alexander is the Managing Partner of NicholasBlack and is an accredited expert in insolvency law.

He was a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly top 30 under 30 Lawyers in 2017, 2018 and 2019, as well as a finalist for Partner of the Year awards in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Dean has practiced continuously and almost exclusively in the areas of insolvency and litigation for the majority of his career.  He has held a number of diverse positions in the industry, including managing a team of insolvency litigators at a boutique firm, taking on a senior position in a disputes and insolvency team at a top national firm, and building a boutique law-firm into a litigation powerhouse, which employed 15 staff.

Dean is also a graduate of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association (ARITA), after completing his industry renowned accreditation, now known as the Advanced Certificate in Insolvency.

With his extensive experience comes a notable list of clientele and results.  These range from assisting small to medium enterprises in defending actions brought by liquidators or other SMEs, through to representing insolvency practitioners appointed to international and domestic publicly listed companies in complex litigation both in Australia and overseas.
